Here’s How To Find What Your Customers Want

You are doing all sorts of marketing and are trying to decide which direction to go next in your business. Wondering what products to create, what services to offer or how to package them, or what topics to write about in your newsletter, articles or blog.
Here are three ways to find out what your audience is most interested in.

1. Create a Giftr
On our website we give away an ebook on Marketing Resources, but there are many things you can do (ebooks, special reports, worksheets, audio files, etc.) on a topic ranging from life goals to keeping your website domains/hosting organized, outsourcing or article marketing... well, you get the idea - there are a variety of gifts to offer.

By watching which freebies were most popular I was able to tell what my audience was most interested in taking action around.

If you setup a newsletter opt-in page which offers new subscribers a range of free downloads and worksheets to choose from. Then, monitor which are the most popular and it helps to target articles and content to what's in demand. can write articles for them centered on that topic.

2. Watch Your Statsr
Which posts, pages, articles, or products on your site are the most popular? Most commented on? Most shared?
Watch what links visitors click when they leave your site. You may spot trends in what they're leaving to find out more about.
Google Analytics on your site can help you achieve this.
Also keep an eye on what phrases are sending traffic from the search engines. If you're ranking well for a phrase and it's generating traffic, that'd be a great topic to use to develop a product or promote an affiliate product based on.

3. Ask Them
Yes, We've saved the most obvious for last. If you really want to know what they're interested in, just ask! People love to share their opinion if you ask.
Here are a couple of tools you can use to create your own online survey (you just type in your questions, choose the type of answers, then at the end it gives you a page you can link to):

When you setup your survey, keep it as short to get more response. You might also consider offering an incentive in exchange for their feedback.
