Most of the people take their locks for granted, until they are gone. For such people, hair transplant can help bring back their hair and enjoy head full of hair once again. Hair transplant is a hair restoration treatment performed on both men and women who experience significant hair loss, thinning of hair or bald spots on their scalp. This technique is also performed to replace hair lost due to injury, burn, or diseases of the scalp. In this surgical procedure, the dermatologists transfer hair grafts from one area to another. That means, the hair grafts from a donor area (usually the back and sides of the scalp) are transplanted on the bald region such that the whole procedure remain safe and practically painless. Two techniques are used for hair transplantation, namely FUT and FUE. Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) is the hair transplantation technique used in earlier days, and is still used in some clinics. During this technique, a thin strip of skin is taken out from the back of the head. This strip is cut into smaller clusters of five or six hair. Tiny slits are made in the balding scalp region, and the clusters of hair are implanted into each slit. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is the hair transplantation method quite popular nowadays due to its advantage over the FUT method. This method involves extraction of individual hair graft units from the donor region and their implantation in the bald region individually. This way, it does not leave a permanent scar, which was the drawback of the FUT method. Each surgery last for two to three hours during which nearly 250 grafts are transplanted to the bald area. To provide the desirable look, the transplantation can occur for many successive days. A series of surgeries can also be scheduled three to four months apart, if required. An individual can be completely awake during this procedure. The patient is given a local anesthetic drug that numbs the area to be treated and even to relax the patient. The hair transplant surgeon will attempt to recreate a natural-looking hairline along the forehead. Though the hair transplantation method seems to be simple, but some risks are associated with this surgery also- no matter you choose the best hair transplant clinic in Delhi or other areas across the globe. To reduce the side effects and enjoy a successful & effective procedure, make sure that you choose a well-established & reputable hair transplant clinic and discuss the expected results before the surgery. Also, inform the physician about any medications you are taking, or previous allergic reactions to drugs or anesthetic agents. Hair transplant is an outpatient procedure. You can return to normal activities within a day. But, it is required to avoid strenuous activities in the first few days after the surgery. There might be some swelling, headache, bruising, and discomfort around the treated area. Scabs may also form at the graft sites, and there may be some numbness at the sites. These symptoms can be controlled with the guidance of the doctor. The transplanted hair will fall out within a few days; however, new hair will begin to grow in the graft sites within 3-4 months. This hair growth will continue and at last, you would get a head full of hair. To get an expert advice, consult with our surgeons now!
