By now you have heard the term, “body wrap”, but what is it? Is it like the mummification one can see on a National Geographic special? Well, its initial appearance can seem eerily similar, but do not fear, it is really a simple procedure. It is a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment that often incorporates herbs, minerals or clay. Some of the benefits offered by body wraps include: cellulite reduction, weight loss, skin moisturizing and detoxification (by stimulating the drainage of fatty acids from your cells). Body wraps have been offered over the past few decades. The first wrapping technique favored the use of linen sheets and was originally known as herbal wraps. Over time the name changed to what we now know today as body wraps. With the change in name, there also came a shift in the material used to wrap the client. Plastic and thermal blankets become favored over linen. Often a patient is first wrapped in plastic, and then covered with a thermal blanket, towels and sheets. Your entire body will be wrapped, so make sure you do not suffer from claustrophobia, or this may not be for you. Noticeable effects after a body wrap are a generally refreshed feeling, tighter softer and a more toned feeling to your skin. There should also be a marked improvement in the visibility of cellulite. The loss of a few inches around the waistline should also be noticeable and an overall feeling of well-being is also reported by many clients. There are other, newer methods of body wraps available. Some now use, to great affect, a type of porous bandage, that is strategically stretched over parts of the body needing the most attention, be it waist, thighs or face. If you are looking specifically to reduce your waist, try one of the many body wraps for weight loss. If your desires are more general, try any of the other great body wraps available and see if you don't notice the difference.
