Body Hair transplant (BHT) is the effective procedure for the patients that have lack of donor follicles on scalp. The technique used for transplanting the body hair is derived from FUE and it basically involves extracting body hair. BHT-FUE method is basically for the patients whose donor areas have been used badly or who have lack of donor hair follicles. If the physical requirements are met then follicular units are extracted from the body parts such as arms, legs, chest, armpits and beard. Specific conditions for BHT- FUE patients Candidates for this follicular unit extraction procedure must meet the certain physiological requirements such as Body hair must be suitable to be cultivated as head hair. Generally body follicular units are different from the scalp follicles in texture and type. Body hair exists with one hair per FU whereas scalp hair exists in natural grouping of 1-4. For example the 50 FUs per cm2 density mean body hair are 50-60 per cm2 whereas same density means that density of head hair 90-120 hairs per cm2. It means for BHT there is needed to obtain natural looking hair density twice as many grafts are needed. So this surgery can be used to improve the density of head hair. Key differences between body hair transplant FUE and conventional FUE. There are following differences between both the methodsr Head and body hair differs in skin and characteristicsr Depth of hair follicles beneath the skin differs in skin and headr Both hairs body and scalp differs in thickness and structure It is important for the surgeon doing body hair transplant to have the sufficient knowledge and experience of both the techniques and their key differences. He must consider the certain basic principles to make this transplant successful. BHT surgeon must understand Procedure difference for extraction of donor hairs in BHT Adequate preparation for the follicular units Correct storage and hydration of the extracted donor follicles outside the body Correct implantation taking into consideration growth direction and the arrangement of the hair follicles so that they can mimic natural hair There must be careful approach for the use of right technique for performing least invasive surgery How BHT-FUE can be successful This follicular unit extraction process can be successful if the surgeon is skilled and experienced and the following key factors work well Extraction of hair folliclesr Growth cycle of body hairr Compatibility of body and head hairs
