Big Data is a term given to the data passing online and transferring to communication sites by individuals in the form of audio, video or text.
This Big data according to IBM has 3V’s. That is:
Velocity: This big data is fast and 2.5 quintillion bits of data is transferred online on a daily basis.
Variety: This big data is in various formats as I already said. Some of the data are in audio format (speeches, songs, and many more), video (YouTube videos, movies, news stories etc.), text (letters, emails, transport slips, transaction papers etc.).
Volume: Volume is the amount of data transfer from one end to the other in the online world. According to an estimate this amount is approximately 2.5quintillion bytes.
Most affective industries:
I will not go into much depth of the big data but will start on the impacts big data will have on the world. And that has already started in the form of Adsense features of Google and many other sites to elaborate it.
Retail:
Only in the retail industry that is online buying and selling, e commerce. Due to big data retail industry faced a increase of almost 49% that is 9.6billion dollars.
Consultation:
In consultancy companies, those who have their online presence faced a 39% increase in their business revenue due to using 'big data' accumulated. That ends up at nearly $5 billion dollars.
Least affected industries by Big Data:
Those industries that were least affected by the big data accumulation were telecommunications and book publishing.
Although they also experienced 1/4th increasing trend in their business, but in comparison with other industries it is accounted as the lowest on scaled values.
Telecommunication:
Telecommunications faced an increase of 17% and a revenue generation of 0.4Billion.
Publishing Industry:
Publishing industry earned a little more with a 18% increase in sales. And 0.8billion revenue increase in business profit.
If we talk about big data challenge investment in contrast with industries than we can say that the education industry has invested the most in big data accumulation challenges, transportation and health are 2nd in position. However, government and the insurance sectors stand at lowest positions.
