Interested in getting rid of unwanted hair on your body? If you are, then you have a number of choices to go for. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages compared to the other. Electrolysis is one of the most popular permanent hair removal procedures available today. The electrolysis hair removal procedure has been around for more than a century. It was first discovered in 1869 by Charles Michel. Over the years, several innovations were added to become the permanent hair removal procedure we all know today. A lot of tests and clinical studies have been done on the process of electrolysis hair removal and most of them have concluded that not only is it very effective but it has minimal side effects compared to many other hair removal procedures. The procedure is even approved by the FDA, making it the only permanent hair removal procedure approved by the FDA. The whole process of electrolysis hair removal works by inserting a fine needle into each individual hair. Once the needle is in place, an electric pulse is sent through the needle and this pulse damages the hair follicle. However, this pulse only damages hair strands that are at a particular stage in their growth cycle. As different hair strands can be at different growth cycles during the procedure, only certain number of hairs will get damaged at each session. Therefore, to complete the whole process, an individual will have to sit through multiple sessions. It is this reason alone which makes electrolysis one of the longest hair removal procedures out there today. The time for the complete procedure depends on the density of the hair too but an average estimate would be about 15 to 20 individual sessions. The denser the hair in an area, the more time it will take. Therefore people with low density of hair will be able to go through the process faster. Individual sessions may take anywhere from 15 minutes to a complete hour. Electrolysis Hair Removal can be performed on any part of the body except the inside of the ear and nose. Hair located on top of a mole also cannot be removed using this method. Due to the whole density to area ratio factor, this process would be better suited for those who want to remove unwanted hair from smaller areas on their body like facial hair, bikini areas, underarm etc. Electrolysis also has an advantage over other permanent methods like laser. Laser removal methods have been found to be not so effective for people with darker skin tones or lighter hair. Electrolysis however, does the job well no matter what the skin tone is. Like everything else, it is very important that you go for a reputed clinic and a qualified electrologist when choosing this option. The better the electrologist, the lower chances of risk you have. Although, electrolysis is a safe method, some have experienced redness, swelling and slight scarring. Therefore it would be wise to do your research before choosing any particular clinic. You can even ask around for recommendations from friends or colleagues. Online reviews are another way to find a good clinic. If you live in a state that regulates electrolysis, then you will need to find an electrologist who is licensed by the state you live in. Taking important precautions and researching will help you to get that perfect electrolysis hair removal treatment you're looking for.
