Believe it or not, search algorithms are still in their early stages! Search engines are continuously changing while still keeping secret their set of rules. Unfortunately, there is no way to reveal the particular algorithms at any given time. On the other hand, thanks to statistics composed through observations of search engines, an informed webmaster can identify patterns in the puzzle thus figure out how the search algorithms work. The ability for web pages to provide hyperlinks to other web pages is the basic concept behind the search algorithms at the present time.rnGoogle was a pioneer to this fresh idea. Currently, most of the major search engines define how trustworthy a certain web site or web page is, by observing at how many other web sites linked to it, which means that website popularity-ranking highly depends on the inbound links and the rating is between 0 - 10. Of course, 10 is the most popular. There are several ways to see the PageRank of a Web page. You can download a plug-ins for internet browsers like Google Toolbar and the PageRank for every web site you visit will be displayed from within the toolbar.rnHow To Increase The PageRankrnWell, there is only one way to achieve that. Try to increase the inbound links as much as possible. But please do not stop reading here and start looking for more inbound links for your web site! There are a few more important things you should be familiar with about how PR is calculated. PR is not just a simple calculation of the number of the links that point to a specific web site. The “popularity” algorithm also takes into consideration the PageRank of the web page that offers the link and finally how many other outbound links exist on that web page. So the higher the ranking of the web page you get the link from, the more PageRank you gain for your web site.rnFor example, just one inbound link from a PR6 web site might be equivalent to 30 inbound links from PR1web sites. An additional parameter that Google utilizes is the number of other links on the web page that provides the link. That means that the more links the page offers the more the PageRank is watered down. So, let’s assume that you receive an inbound link from a PR7 web site, then you might think that this is amazing, because just a few links from PR7 pages and your site will also get a PR7 rating. Well, it is not that simple, because if that web page also offers links to many different web sites, then the link will not be so effective. It might actually be like a link from a PR1 or PR2 web site.rnPageRank Is Not Everything.rnThere was a time that PageRank was a much more important element for the search engine results. At the present time it is not so vital and other aspects have now become more significant. So please, try to focus on brand-building or improving your content and do not be another PR addicted webmaster. Really, you do not have to be so obsessed with that and forget other more important factors for instance obtaining links from relevant web sites that are in the same or very close to your theme. You prefer a web site with a PR7 but a low position in the results, or a PR4 web site with a good position in the results and visitors that buy your products or services? For me, the answer is obvious. In my opinion, Google’s relevancy algorithms have moved far beyond just looking at PageRank, so when I link to a website, or request a link from a website, I do not care so much anymore for that number. This is what you must do in order to improve your link building: 1. Always try to link to other resources similar to your site, 2. Use anchor text that contains your primary keywords, 3. Link to sites that provide useful content that people on your web site would find valuable. If you practice this method then you will likely become very successful.
