Have you ever felt nervous about making a decision that could affect the rest of your life? Maybe you have avoided making the decision overall? Sometimes even minor decisions can trigger anxiety when you start thinking about the “What if’s” – about all the things that could go wrong.

It is fairly common for people to go back and forth between several choices, whether they are related to work, finances, opportunities, self-improvement, or sometimes even relationships. How do you know which choice is the best one for you in any given situation? Sometimes the best choice is obvious. Other times they all give you a glimpse of possibility and at the same time the threat of regret.

Below you’ll find 4 key questions to ask yourself that will help you make good decisions in any area of your life. It all comes down to weighing the potential scenarios of every possible outcome.

1) What Are You Gaining From Maintaining the Status-Quo?
2) How Do You See Your Life Different?
3) What Are You Willing to Do or Give in Order to Attain this Goal?
4) Be Honest: How Ready Are You For This Change?
I personally also always trust my gut instinct, if all of the options hold the same potential rewards and consequences. I have learned that I cannot expect a different outcome if I continue doing the same.

The questions above also hold true for my clients in my hypnosis practice. If they want to become a better version of themselves or if they want to release negative emotions and patterns, I need to ask them these questions, if they haven’t done so themselves. We all have “wants”. However, often times we may not be willing and committed to putting in the work it takes to achieve our goals, or we do not even want to take a small, calculated risk to gain something.

Take some time to think carefully about your possibilities, and then choose the one you feel the strongest about. It comes down to following: there are no guarantees in decision-making. You simply weigh the pros and cons, listen to your intuition, put in your best effort and intentions and go for it. In the end, there is no such thing as making a “bad” decision. You learn and grow from every decision you make.

If you keep that in mind you should feel more confident with each choice you make and this will help you make even better decisions in the future.
