When we refer to ‘Lymph’, this is a fluid that the body produces which flows through your lymphatic system, it’s made up of extra fluid that drains from tissues and cells. Lymphatic fluid is very important, as it acts as a filter against toxins, microbes, and other waste products from within the body. However, when a build up or blockage in your lymphatic system occurs, it is important that this gets relieved by draining the lymph nodes. This is where Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) comes in… Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage Technique The MLD massage technique features gentle circular movements. This helps lymphatic fluid move around the body more efficiently. It reduces swelling and allows the body to find alternative pathways to drain the excess fluid. During this process it’s common for you to feel relaxed and calm as the excess lymph is drained away. Health Benefits of Manual Lymphatic Drainage There are many health benefits linked with MLD, and an increasing number of people are now incorporating this treatment into their health and wellness routines. · Acne treatment – MLD can help treat acne by removing excess toxins and hormones from within the body. MLD works the lymph nodes, causing them to move though our system and these toxins are then passed on through your body for onward processing. · Increases blood circulation – Not only does MLD increase blood circulation, but it also helps the body to regulate body fluid balance and other immune factors. Any fluid that’s forced out of the bloodstream works its way to the lymph nodes. At this point any unwanted bacteria is removed before being transported back to the bloodstream. ·Migraine prevention – If the lymphatic system isn’t working effectively, swelling in the head can occur due to the increased pressure and this usually results headaches. MLD works with the sympathetic nervous system and suppresses pain signals that are sent to the brain.rnThings to consider before booking your MLD appointmentrnMLD is a specialised treatment and should only ever be carried out by trained professionals. Before booking an MLD appointment, it is recommended that you discuss this with your healthcare provider to ensure that the treatment is suitable for you, as it may not be for everybody.
