What is SSC

The SSC or the Staff Selection Commission conducts examinations for absorbing the deserving candidates to the various technical(Group B) and non-technical (both Group B and C) posts which are under the Indian Government or are attached to it or fall under its subordinate offices. There are a number of various types of examinations which are conducted at various times and have different eligibility criteria. The SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam 2012 for example will invite applications from those candidates who have a graduate degree from an UGC recognized university in the country. After the exams are conducted, the SSC Resultwhich is declared later on decides the fate of the candidates. It is superfluous to mention that the Staff Selection Commission exams are extremely tough to crack and only the most tenacious and hardworking candidates are finally able to land the respective jobs. Every year many hopefuls sit in the examination in order to have a completely secure future but most have to go away disappoint, only to try their luck the next year. Eligibility criteria for the SSC * The eligibility criteria for the SSC exams vary on the posts for which the exams are being conducted. * For the SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam 2012 any graduate from a recognized university is eligible to sit for the exams. * The age of the candidates who wish to appear in the Staff Selection Commission examination have to be between 18 and 27 years on the date of the publication of the notice of the exams. * For Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, OBCs, widows and the physically handicapped persons there is a relaxation in the age limit. * The educational qualification for filling the examination form, sitting in the exam and going to the SSC Resultstage may vary from matriculation to being a graduate. SSC Examination pattern * There are mainly three types of SSC exams. * These are the SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam 2012, the Combined HS level and the Matric level combined examination. * There are generally three levels in the examination before the declaration of the SSC Result. * The preliminary examination is generally the screening exam, and those who are able to qualify can go on and give the main examination. * After the main examination the successful candidates go on to the interview and the PET or the Physical Efficiency Test. * Those sitting for the Matric level exam have to pass a typing/stenography test. * There may be some examinations which have a different pattern than what has been given above.
