rnMany people use the terms "home care" and "nursing care" interchangeably when referring to senior-citizen care, but the two types of assisted living are very different. Here's a brief clarification to help you distinguish between the two.rnHome Care A senior citizen that opts for home care services such as those provided by San Jose Home Care will have non-certified professionals helping them with their daily tasks in the comfort of their home. San Jose in Home Care is for senior citizens that want to maintain their independence and aren't in need of round-the-clock care. Their helpers will perform simple tasks throughout the day such as laundry, cooking meals, or feeding pets. Home care is not an official term and can technically refer to any type of assistance done for an elderly person in-house. Senior citizens undergoing home care do not need professional services offered by certified healthcare providers, and the ability to live at their home (as opposed to a nursing home) can have wonderful psychological benefits. rnNursing Care Nursing care on the other hand, refers to medical professionals taking care of elderly citizens inside their homes. These medical professionals can be certified practical nurses, registered nurses or even full-fledged doctors. They often provide the senior citizen with services that non-certified helpers cannot legally provide. This can include administration of fluids and the prescribing of medicine. Nursing care is an excellent alternative to a nursing home, where the senior citizen will essentially move into a harsh, unfamiliar environment for their last few years. Studies have shown that this can be a psychological disaster, and many elderly folks are opting for home care and nursing home care as their assisted-living modes of choice. rnWhich One of These is Right for Me? Deciding which type of assisted-living is right for your aging relative can be very difficult for both you and your loved one. Relinquishing one's ability to take care of themselves is tough and can be traumatizing if not handled correctly. If your senior citizen is still in good health, chances are that San Jose Live-in Care will be your best bet. While the body's muscle and skeletal system slowly become unable to perform certain motor skills, its vital systems and organs typically don't start failing until the very end of a person's life. If you are finding that your elderly one is constantly feeling under the weather, than nursing care is most likely the better option as professional services can be delivered immediately should anything fatal happen to your loved one.
