Liberation! Liberation is the Ultimate Purpose of Our Existence.rnFor centuries, on the sacred land of India, countless saints, Satpurush, Gnani Purush, Vasudevas, Balrams, Chakravarti Kings, Tirthankaras, the perfect embodiment of Omniscience, have been born. These divine beings have not only attained their own liberation, but they have become instrumental in the salvation of millions of others too. They have preached the essence of ‘real religion’ to people. The real religion is the religion of the Self i.e. the religion of the Soul. Through the knowledge that they acquired, they’ve given people the experience of liberation too, while in the physical body. How do we experience Liberation when we are nowhere close to the state of a Divine being.rnLet’s understand this through an example. rnSuppose there is some dirty water. We put many filters and slowly, slowly make this water drinkable. We can use this clean water for our daily purpose and live a good life. rnBut if we want to liberate the hydrogen and oxygen from this water, if we want to achieve the elemental form of water i.e. hydrogen and oxygen, then we can directly separate the hydrogen and oxygen from dirty water itself, isn’t it? Then when we analyze, would the hydrogen and oxygen be impure? Not at all! They are found totally pure. rnIt means between so many impurities too, the element always remains pure! The same applies to us all. Amidst so many impurities, the element of Soul has always remained pure! rnThe Soul is divine and that’s what we really are. Therefore, by our inherent nature, we are divine! Liberation from Ignorance of the Self is the first stage of liberation!rnThe element of pure Soul that resides within is our real Self. When the Enlightened One, with his divine spiritual powers, graces us with the knowledge of the Self, we realize really, ‘who am I’. That is called Self-Realization. rnWe Cannot Attain the first stage of Liberation on our OwnrnSuppose we are very tightly tied to a wall from top to bottom with a strong rope. A pair of scissors, a sharp knife, blade, etc. - the tools to liberate ourselves from the bondage are all placed right besides us on the table. Now, can we cut the rope with the help of these tools and set our self free? No, we cannot. No matter how hard we try, we are unable to succeed. We require help from someone outside, who is capable of cutting this strong rope. Once that happens, thereafter, we, with the help of that person, can persevere and free our self from the entire bind, isn’t it? Similarly, here too, since infinite lives, each one of us is tied in this world by the strong bind of ignorance of the Self. We require someone capable, who has the power to cut this bind, and free us once. Such a person is called Gnani, the Enlightened One, who has the divine power to cut through the veils of ignorance and liberate everyone, by gracing them with Self-Realization!!! The Real Effort takes us to the Ultimate LiberationrnAfter attaining Self-Realization, by adhering to the Enlightened One’s words and guidelines, we can work out our ultimate liberation! The real effort to achieve the purpose of our existence begins only after one has become the Self (the real Self i.e. the Soul). A perpetual state of liberation prevails through the alertness of this effort. Consequently, when all our karmas get finished, then the second and the final stage of liberation is achieved. That’s called ‘Nirvana’ or the ultimate liberation. We are then liberated from the cycle of birth and death forever; there is no rebirth thereafter.
