So you have decided that you want to race. You have done all your research, have seen the Tour de France and have decided on all the races that you want to enter for the season. Everything is in place, right? Your gears are stacked, your outfit is ready, and you have your road bicycles ready and in gear to enter your very first triathlon; however, before you go out and enter a triathlon with a road bike, let us make it clear at this point that both bikes are different and one will never deliver the same effect as the other. So, why are these bikes different from each other? Despite what most might think triathlon bikes have many differences when compared to road bikes. The differences between the two bikes lie mostly in the overall frame, the wheels, the cockpit, and of course the way the frame is designed. When it comes to the overall geometry of triathlon bikes, you will notice that the seat is a bit higher when compared to that of the road bicycles. These bikes are designed this way to allow a steep angle, which in turn increases the aerodynamics that will propel you forward. Next to the geometry of road bikes and triathlon bikes the frame design is something that defers greatly between the two. When it comes to road bicycles, there are certain building regulations that these bikes must adhere to but triathlon bikes on the other hand do not need to follow such regulations. All road bikes must be built with double triangle designs, which in turn should include a seat tube, down tube, chain stays, and seat stays. This is the typical design that all road bikes have been using for centuries and the design seem to be something that will be in use for years to come. While the double triangle frame holds every other feature of the road bike in place, the design of the triathlon bike is very outstanding and when it comes to the wheel of both the triathlon bike and road bike, you have the option of customizing the wheel of your choice. When choosing wheels for your triathlon bike, you will make this decision base on the terrain that you will be riding on, your budget, and of course, the type of race that you will be riding in. While you have the option to choose the wheels based on a number of factors, the wheels designed for triathlon bikes are built in a deep dish shape in an attempt to make the rider move faster. When comparing these two bikes to each other, you need to look on the outward appearance because these bikes are designed differently. Triathlon bicycles are designed to give the rider the full benefits of the wind. They come with their unique design in an attempt to make, you the rider, get the best out of your riding and racing experience. If you have been thinking to get into racing and is looking forward to your very first triathlon, keep in mind that you will not win; however, with the right gears, bike, and equipment you can enter your race, feel comfortable, and get the experience you need to enter and win others.
