Facebook is in the news for its non-traditional web search tool, Graph Search update. Many eagerly awaited for years for other sites take over Google's position and lead the market. With Facebook's this initiative, we can expect some change in dominance level of Google. However, this won't happen instantly. The Graph Search is in Beta stage. Yet, there are many things and updates to be done by Facebook.
Users are eagerly waiting to use second of its kind in Search Engine Market. This product will focus on four areas, or the option/tool will search for four items – pictures, places, people, and interest. This will be initial additions; however, location graph and Facebook posts will be added in a couple of months. There are plenty of other things on the way to be added in this product to compete with Google.
Facebook's Graph Search: A potential threat to Google's revenue?
The Graph Search won't harm Google much. However, dedicated Facebook users will definitely use this search feature, which could pose a threat to Google's existence to some extent and revenue to a large. The Facebook Search Engine may pull off some percentage of the advertisement amount from Google to Facebook, which could cost Google heavily; though it is not definite.
Will Facebook Graph Search be able to seize a Google's market share?
Facebook has fair chances of getting over Google, firstly due to its large number of users, and secondly it claims to provide what Google can't. There is wide scope for Facebook Graph Search, since it breaks the monotony of traditional web search. Mark Zuckerberg also revealed that Facebook Graph Search isn't a web search. However, it's use Bing's web search element to give a feel of web search.
Many criticized this update by saying it is not a big or glorious effort. However, we cannot comment on this update unless it is open for public. It is still in Beta stage.
Privacy: The biggest of all concerns
Every Facebook update or change is associated with this term “privacy.” The past experiences had left a suspicion in our minds. However, the company has issued a video, which talks about the privacy tips for users during its launch.
The company revealed that users will be able to see things the way it was previously. The only thing that will change is its presentation to enhance user experience. Privacy settings will remain almost the same. If currently you are not using privacy settings options, go into it and make sure you understand it properly.

It is going to be a challenge for SEO professionals. Facebook Graph Search will open a new area of Search Engine Optimization. Doing SEO for Bing and Google was similar, but it is going to be entirely different with Facebook's Graph Search.
The company reportedly shared some optimizing tips with businesses. As mentioned earlier, this search will focus on people, place, photos etc. Similarly, when you will search for something the search bar will display the results in order including, pages, apps, groups, and suggestions. For instance: if you are searching for hotels near Kuala Lumpur Airport, it will display images, hotels, photos posted by people, etc. rnThe search result will be unique. It will also display information about your search query from the people in your connection.

It is not yet revealed, how businesses will benefit from Facebook's product. However, it will interesting to see how the system will work. Like Google, even Facebook will lay down its quality guidelines, stating what is expected and what will be penalized.

Facebook's Graph Search is unique and addresses completely new set of issues and searches, which was not entirely available on Google.
