Fear and desire are two most compelling factors in a person’s life. Most of our actions and decisions are propelled by either fear or desire, and hence we remain constantly swinging like a pendulum between action and reaction. So what makes these dominate our life? What is its root cause? And how do we become free from them and remain in a constant state of bliss instead? Our fearsrnSuppose we are travelling to a relative’s house in the next town and have a big wad of cash in our bag, we would experience fear. So, we may pray to God asking Him to protect us, also we remain constantly alert throughout the journey, and all the way hope that the travel gets over quickly without any mishaps. Where does this fear stem from? It’s from the sense of ownership and doership, “it is my money and I am responsible to safeguard it till I reach my destination.” This understanding weighs on our mind. Therefore, despite taking all the necessary precautions, we continue to worry that, ‘what if some untoward event may happen to me? What if I am robbed off of my money?’ This attachment towards ‘me’ and ‘mine’ is at the root of our fear.rnNow, if we were to understand, “there is some money in the bag and my role is to make the best of efforts to ensure its safety”, then we would experience instant relief not only from fear but also from all the doubts that keep nagging us and do not let us be in peace. Our DesiresrnLet us now look at the desire part of it. Suppose we are going to some place and we see a mobile gallery on the way, which has a brand new smartphone put on display. Seeing it, we sense an immediate attraction towards it. When we had left from home, our current phone was absolutely fine and dear to us, but as soon as we saw this new device, all of a sudden a desire to upgrade our phone crops up. Do you know why? Because you feel that it will make you happy. Our search for happiness is at the root of all our desires.rnWe want better experiences for ourselves, we want to live as comfortably as we can, we want to experience all the luxuries in this world – the main reason behind all of this is we feel this will make us happy. But have we ever thought, ‘for how long?... for how long do these things give happiness?’ Anything that you desire for, and run after in this world will give you only temporary happiness. So shouldn’t we be looking for something that can give us permanent happiness then? Self-Realization not only leads to permanent happiness but also gives us freedom from the tugs and pulls of fear and desire forever. rnIsn’t that wonderful? Today, due to Akram Science, we can attain Self-Realization in just two hours time with the direct grace of Gnani, the Enlightened One. He makes us realize of our real Self, which is an abode of eternal bliss! Thereafter, following his teachings, our real understanding about things grows, the awareness of the real Self grows and in us the desire to eliminate the worldly desires and fears from its root grows; thus slowly and steadily we begin to progress on the path of liberation!
