What is your "Creed For Life"?

I am well aware of the flack I am going to catch from the Tarheel Faithful but I also know that when greatness exists they all have a deep appreciation. Yes I am a loyal Tarheel Fan (and yes I have and will continue to write about Dean) however in the midst of an internet search I began following links that somehow lead me to John Wooden. Knowing the unprecedented success that John Wooden had with his UCLA Basketball teams over the years (10 National Championships) I felt compelled to share a creed given to him by his father at age 12. Coach Wooden carried this Creed around in his wallet for more than 75 years. Perhaps more importantly he lived the life of a leader. As a truly disciplined individual he experienced many personal victories and attributes that to his ability to share the path in helping others become victorious!
Coach John Wooden’s Creed for Life-
Making the Most of Oneselfr
Be true to yourself.
Make each day your masterpiece.
Help Othersr
Drink Deeply from good books.
Make friendship a fine art.
Build shelter against a rainy Day.
Pray for guidance and give thanks for your blessings every day.
Wow! How can you apply these to living your life? Do you have moments of greatness and then find yourself slipping back into old habits that don't support your values or the direction you want to be going?
Many people live on the surface in an unconscious, fear driven state- I know- I have been there myself!!
You know what I mean- for example when someone asks you "Hey, How's work going? or “How is your business doing in this economy?" What is your reply? Do you tell them "Fine!" or "Busy!" or "We're Hanging in there!" With that answer are you being true to yourself, or hoping the conversation will pass without much detail?
Are you engaging in your work or the success of your business fully and creating your masterpiece?
Do you help others along the way or are you in a self preservation mode just trying to get to whatever may come your way next?
What are you reading these days? Is it uplifting and inspiring? Does it challenge you to think or take action?
Who are you surrounding yourself with? Do your relationships add energy to your life or do they drain you?
Do you approach your life with confidence and faith or are you in a constant state of worry about the next “storm”?
Where are you seeking guidance and direction in your life? What have you done to show your appreciation and gratitude for the blessings you have in your life including life itself?
If you could close your eyes and see things clearly- visualize the life that you want to have- What would it look like?
What would your Creed for Life Be?
You have the potential to make that visualization a reality! You have the power to create that Creed and Live it every day!! It starts with you!
