What Material is used for Threaded Rod and Foundation Bolts

Of the many fasteners we have, the threaded rod finds a use in construction mostly. This does not have a head but has threads at both the ends. Fasteners of the nut and bolt variety are preferred because we can dismantle it at any time. Threaded rods have other names such as ATR and redi-rod.

Common grade steel materialr
It is available in many materials and sizes. Some people refer to this as a stud. Through this, one can control the linear as well as the rotational movement in a structure. The most common material used to make studs is low carbon steel. It is classified as ASTM A307 and is Grade 2 steel. You have a higher quality than this and that is ASTM A449. This is Grade 5 threaded rod that is stronger and more durable tha
ASTM A307. It is tempered and quenched medium carbon steel. You can get either variety from the Threaded Rod Manufacturers in your locality.

Steel fasteners are either plain or coated with zinc or chromium. The most common type is Grade 2 steel that is the cheapest of all. You can easily identify them because they will not have any head marking. Stronger than this is Grade 5 bolts that have three radial lines on its head. It finds use in car and vehicle industry. It is recommended to use Grade F nuts with Grade 5 bolts because they will remain matched in strength.

We use many other types of materials in construction and fabrication. This includes brass, silicon bronze, and aluminum. In a water-filled atmosphere such as marine docks, we use silicon bronze because it resists the action of water well. This is an alloy of copper and tin. Use of aluminum will reduce the weight of the construction a lot.

We have many types of foundation bolts. The most common type is the eye foundation bolt. One end of this bolt will be fashioned in the form of an eye. Into this, a cross piece is fixed. The second type is the bent foundation bolt. Here the bolt is bent and usually set in lead and then in concrete. Another common type of bolt is the rag bolt. This is tapered with a square or rectangular cross-section. The tapered edges remain grooved. Like before, this is first set in lead and then in concrete. This is one of the strongest foundation bolt types.
