“The fact that women were ordained for the first twelve hundred years of Christianity will surprise many people. It surprised me when I first discovered it”. The Hidden History of Women’s Ordination, by Gary Macy.

The Truth is in Plain Sight

Why then isn’t our hierarchy acknowledging this truth? It was the early Church fathers, not Jesus, who was responsible for enacting new Canon law, which permanently removed women from their previous Religious positions. For all practical purposes, women were no longer able to assume their previous roles in our Church. This out of sight, out of mind, scenario served the hierarchy very well, that is, until both men and women through their fact-based research, discovered the actual truth. Even in light of this new research evidence, the hierarchy’s selective memory remains as entrenched as ever.

Betrayal of Trust

How can the hierarchy refer to Mary Magdalene, as the Apostle to the Apostles,” and then, on the other hand, continue to say there never were Women Apostles, let alone Women Priests in the History of our Church? More disturbing for any Catholic is the actual realization that their hierarchy perpetrated this untruth, sadly they continue this ongoing betrayal of trust to any member of the Catholic Laity. How does one, ever begin to digest this fact, let alone begin to swallow it. For any Catholic, they know that the hierarchy’s favorite word is Scandal. Perpetuating an untruth from former centuries to our present-day certainly deserves the title Scandal here.
