Are you aware the only thing holding you back from reaching your full potential is YOU!
Most people look to external factors to blame. It’s much easier to point the finger at others, events, situations or circumstances rather than looking inwards to your own inner-world.
Your inner-world may be a map of uncharted territory, barriers, self-beliefs, histories and emotions and so stepping into the shores of our inner world may seem frightening. So it becomes much easier and safer to do the same thing each day, without questioning why we do the things we do.
Humans generally resist change and it becomes feared and creates a barrier to stop you from achieving your goals. As Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “…the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” How true this statement is, although perhaps change itself isn’t feared, it maybe the fear of the unknown. The fear of what is round the next corner, the fear of failing and even the fear of success.
To be able to reach your full potential requires a journey of self-discovery into your inner-world to create awareness, knowledge and strength to help overcome the barriers that may be blocking you.
Deep down you may be aware that you are much more capable of what you thought was possible, you can sense it but because there are blocks in your path it seems beyond your reach.
Here are some steps to help you arrive where you wish to be:
CREATE AWARENESS
The first step is to create awareness, and focus on how your belief system represents you. Start by asking yourself : What does your belief system do for you? What does it say about you? Does it hold you back? Do you feel trapped in the bondage of your belief system, so tightly bound you are unable to achieve and succeed in your goals, to reach your full potential?
Write them down and challenge the statements.
ACCEPT CHANGE
When change presents itself to you, do not initially resist it. It may be an opportunity for growth and to motivate you to move into a new direction.
Begin to view change as a learning process, it may open a new door to help to facilitate a new way of being by changing and improving your circumstances.
BE PATIENT
Being patient is an important aspect of reaching your full potential. If you proceed too quickly, you may miss opportunities, skip new learning processes, and perhaps end back where you started.
Someone once said to me “the slower you go, the more you grow”.
It’s okay to make mistakes. In order to succeed, it is sometimes necessary to make mistakes. It’s okay to make mistakes as no one is perfect and everyone makes them.
It’s how you look at the mistakes which is important, ask yourself these questions: what can you learn from them? what can you do different next time?
STAY REALISTIC
Do not set yourself goals that you can not realistically achieve. If this is happening over and over again, you may unconsciously setting yourself up for failure.
Good luck in reaching your full potential, stay confident, positive and you may find you even go beyond your full potential.
