Mantra:rnMantra is a means to still the mind. It protects the mind by making it calm and quiet. Whenever some problem comes in life, our mind gets upset, “What will happen? What will happen of this, of that?” At that time, if you chant mantra, it stabilizes your mind. Thus, mantra gives peace and protection to mind. Moreover, while chanting mantra, we bow with veneration to God. Faith arises in us that, “I am saying this mantra. So, things will be good. I have taken the name of God. Now everything will be fine.” Consequently, our negative chain of thoughts breaks and it makes room for positivity to usher in. Therefore, we meet positive circumstances, with the help of which positive result happens. Also, when you chant mantra, Gods and Goddesses get pleased and they come to your help. Our faith inside and God-Goddesses’ help from outside, both together bring forth a positive outcome. Furthermore, mantras remove obstacles. Trimantra is the most powerful mantra in the world for overcoming obstacles. Understanding the meaning of the mantra yields better benefits. And if you chant the mantra by reading each and every alphabet of the word in the mantra with your closed eyes, you are able to chant mantra with good concentration. It brings much better effect then. Karma:rnKarma means action. Every karma yields karma fal (the fruit of karma) in the form of reaction. The principle of karma is “What you sow, so shall you reap.” Hence, whatever suffering we experience in life is only because of karmas. rnWe often accuse the other person by saying, “He did that to me?” because we do not know that the other person’s action is actually the result of our own unfolding karma. When we understand the theory of karma correctly, we realize that all our accusations are unfounded! There are three parts in our body: 1.Outer actions by physical part (External body). rnWhatever we are seen doing through our five senses is all an outer action.rn2.Inner actions by inner part (man, chit, buddhi, ahankar). While we are seen lying down by people, inside we may be thinking ‘how do I solve this problem’. This is an inner action which people cannot see. Before any outer action happens, inner action takes place. Only when decision is taken inside, it comes into action outside. 3.Knower of inner and outer action (Pure Soul). It is due to Pure Soul that we know that thinking is happening inside, there are good thoughts or bad thoughts arising, they are causing suffocation or peace within, and the thoughts have now come out in outer action. The main cause of Karma is the Ignorance of our SelfrnWe do not know that, “I am a Pure Soul” and hence we claim doership of all inner and outer actions. As long as we believe, “I am the doer’, we will bind karma. Karma is based on doership. Where there is no doership, there is no binding of karma. However, it is only Gnani, the Enlightened One, who can remove our base of doership and make us aware of who the true doer is. When that happens, charging of new karma stops; not otherwise! Dharma:rnDharma means function. There are two types of dharma:rn1.Swa-dharmarn2.Par-dharma rnPeople have a misunderstanding that ‘my religion is swa-dharma and all other religions are par-dharma.’ This is not true, for God is never partial; God is always impartial. So let us understand what really swa-dharma is and what par-dharma is. You are reading this article, right? But are you reading or your eyes are reading? It is actually the dharma of eyes to do reading. Yet we say, “I did reading.” What our five senses do, we say, “I am doing.” Similarly, we say, “I am thinking.” No, it is not our function; it is the function of our man (mind) to think. It is the function of our chit (consciousness / awareness) to see and know things. It is the function of our buddhi (intellect) to take decision and the function of our ego is to determine. The man, chit, buddhi and ahankar, as stated above, are in their respective dharma. The five senses too are in their respective dharma. This is all par-dharma. And we really are a Pure Soul. So, the function of Pure Soul is swa-dharma. Out of ignorance of our Self, we believe, “I am John (the reader may insert his own name here), I am doing. I am thinking, I am meditating, I am hearing, I am seeing, I am eating, I am feeling cold” and hence experience fear, attachment, hatred, etc. You are really not John, you yourself are Pure Soul. When we come in to the dharma of our Self, we become fearless and become devoid of all attachment then. However, we cannot come into the dharma of our Self on our own. We need the help of Gnani, the Enlightened One, who is established in the swa-dharma, and has the divine power to grace us with Self-Realization!!! Thereby, we experientially realize that, “I am Pure Soul.” and come into our swa-dharma. So,if you are chanting any mantra, do so as taught by Gnani; with your sincere inner intent being that of soon meeting this Gnani, who can help you attain your swa-dharma and thus stop binding of your new karmas!!
