What should you know while choosing your surrogate mother?

We get a lot of queries and a lot of demands when intended parents want to choose a surrogate mother. Many times they are confused and ask us for our help. Hence here are a few tips on what should you consider while choosing your surrogate mother.
It is important to consider a few facts when you choose your surrogate.
Beauty and looks: Earlier many people thought that the surrogate mother needs to be beautiful as they wanted to have beautiful babies. But now couples have come to a realization that the surrogate mother only carries the baby and her genetic material is not what the child receives. The child carries genetic material of her genetic parents and the birth mother i.e the surrogate only nurtures that baby in her womb for 9 months.
Religion and caste: Many intended parents would like to have a surrogate mother who belongs to the same religion and sometimes same caste as theirs. They feel the child would be born with certain religion values that the surrogate mother follows hence would like those values to be same as theirs.
Food habits: Many vegetarian intended parents prefer a vegetarian surrogate and non-vegetarians a non-vegetarian surrogate. Food is just consumed and then broken down into macro and micro nutrients – vitamins, proteins, minerals, carbohydrates and fats. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food has the same structural formulas for these nutrients and hence it’s immaterial what the surrogate mother has consumed as far as it is healthyr
Few things one should look into while choosing a surrogate mother
1. It is very important to know that you are compatible with your surrogate. We make arrangements for you to meet her or have a skype chat with her for our foreign intended couples. You can talk to her at length and gauge how good she would be for you to carry your precious baby

2. To know if she is doing this important and very precious procedure by her own accord and not that someone has lured her into doing this. This is very important to know because surrogacy is a long procedure and for 9 months the surrogate mother should be in a motivated spirit to do the same.

3. To know if all her documents are in place and she is eligible to do surrogacy. This is important so you know that she is proven fertile – having her own children and she is a loving mother to them.

4. Reasons for doing this surrogacy. Money may be a factor but the real reason for most surrogate mothers is their own children. To secure their own child’s future we have many women doing surrogacy. Also the need to help an intended couple and to bring smiles on their faces is a major motivation to many women. When you do it for the right reason, you never will be careless or irresponsible. Surrogacy is a great responsibility for the surrogate mother.

5. Her medical fitness. It’s the most important factor that should be considered by the intended couples. It is very necessary that the gynecologist has approved her of her medical conditions.
a. She has had no previous miscarriages or still births.
b. No complications in her delivery.
c. Have a strong uterus and a good uterine lining to carry another pregnancy.
d. Her blood reports are within the normal range
e. No genetic or hereditary disorders in the family
f. Children born normal and having normal lives
g. No previous complicated surgeriesrnh. She is well within the age limit (as suggested by ICMR) to undergo a surrogacy rni. She has not more than 3 children of her own (suggested by ICMR)
Once you have considered these points you can go ahead and choose your surrogate.

We encourage you not to go by looks, religion or diet habits as it will only delay your process of surrogacy and may leave you with limited choices.
