Everywhere you turn, there are news articles talking about pornography addiction. The explanation is that between 50 and 70 percent of men admit to having a crisis with it. That is as common as someone having a weight problem. The catch is that very few people in reality know how to stop porn. Pornography addiction in addition comes up in as many as 60% of divorces as a contributing issue. If this is such a big matter behind the scenes in our culture, why is it not understood? For the reason that our culture has shamed it. No one can have a discussion openly on the subject of something that brings in more money than professional basketball, baseball, football and hockey combined. Porn in the US sells 3 times as much product as McDonalds. And in some way we don’t know how to discourse openly in this area it. The consequence is that the people who possess a pornography addiction aren’t permitted to talk about it. Their wives and girlfriends can’t talk to each other about it either. And the thing that makes it worse is keeping it a secret. The question everyone is asking is how to beat porn addiction. What makes pornography addiction such a big problem? Here are some of the reasons. The most obvious is that this is the most natural drug for men. They are visually stimulated and from the time they were little boys, advertisers have been using beautiful women to advertise things to them. It’s very clever how they achieve this. They will put on view a stimulating image and it causes provocation in the man. At that moment, when he is feeling natural desire, they show their product and sway him that if he had their product it would fill their longing. They purposely only show quick flashes of the images and only yield a hint at their sexiness. This leaves the man wanting more. The natural progression is to want to see the rest and satisfy his hunger. For most men, this conditioning is fixed before he is 14 years old. He has seen thousands of these provocative images on television, in billboards, magazines, and online. Without knowing it, he has been brainwashed to be inclined towards a pornography addiction. And then we seal the deal when we humiliate them for doing what is natural. The shame keeps them in hiding and they can’t reach out and find help for addiction. The ease of access on the internet has hooked far more people than would have had a pornography addiction in the past. It used to be tricky to attain the material. It required someone to break through the social barriers of going into a store that sold it. At this time people can access it in the privacy of their homes. This is also getting a lot more women hooked on porn.
