What to do if you're stuck

Irene was a highly talented freelance advertising copywriter. One day she found herself unable to make herself write. She made up excuses and found other things that she felt she "had" to do. This went on for days. Irene was stuck. She had a bad case of writer's block and could not get herself to write.
Fortunately, a friend gave her a copy of my book, Triggers. Irene found the answer she needed in the very first chapter, How to Motivate Yourself. She read about changing reluctance into eage
ess with a simple Trigger technique. You take the eage
ess and enthusiasm you have for one activity and use it to transform the reluctance you have performing another activity.
She set about applying the techniques outlined in the book. Irene loved reading mystery novels. She eagerly read them every chance she would get. She used this to create her positive trigger. She vividly imagined herself reading and pressed her right leg. The enthusiasm he felt was 10 on a scale of 0 to 10.
Every time she pressed her right leg, the thought reoccurred along with that strong enthusiasm.
She created her negative trigger by pressing her left leg while thinking about writing. The reluctance she felt was a 7.
That was good. The positive trigger was stronger than a negative one. Then she did an interesting thing.
She pressed both legs at the same time. Both images swirled around in her mind. After a few seconds something had changed. Now when she thought about copywriting, she felt eager and enthusiastic. She imagined herself from that moment on writing every day with eager enthusiasm.
From then on she had no problem writing. She soon was producing high quality work and her business blossomed.
Are you stuck? Do you have something that's important for you to do but have trouble making yourself do it? Maybe it's exercising more, it could be writing that important report or article. Maybe it's completing an important project.
One of the biggest blocks to business success is not doing what you're supposed be doing when you're supposed be doing it.
Here are the eight steps you can use to infuse eage
ess and enthusiasm into anything you want to do.
1. Decide what behavior you want to change. This is called your target.
2. Choose an activity which already has all the motivation you need. This is called your reservoir
3. Imagine your reservoir vividly (fishing, dancing, reading or whatever you most enjoy). Create a trigger by pressing your right leg.
4. Imagine your target, and, when it is clear in your mind, create another trigger by pressing your left leg.
5. Using your intuition, be sure your reservoir is definitely stronger than your target.
6. Fire off both Triggers at the same time by pressing both legs, remembering both your reservoir and your target.
7. Allow a minute or two for this to combine.
8. Imagine yourself in the future performing your target with your newly acquired eage
ess. Adjust the image so it feels real. Imagine the rewards for performing your target successfully.
I have used this technique myself to make myself write my book, Triggers. When you use your Trigger, you never have to push yourself to start. Just the opposite, you have to remind yourself to stop. Never be stuck again.
Think about how much more you can accomplish with Triggers and how much faster your business will grow.
