When he seems to pull away emotionally, it usually doesn’t have anything to do with you at all. It usually is just his own focus that is being drawn to something else... whether that be his work, his friends, or some other distraction. This really isn’t something you need to worry about in most cases. You don’t need to try to compete for his attention. In fact doing so, will usually cause him to resent you for that. On the other hand if you give him the space that he is wants to be able to figure out whatever he is focusing in on, then there is a much better chance that when he is finished with it, he’ll come back to you, giving you all the attention that you are looking for. This may seem counter-intuitive, but you need to remember that men are fundamentally wired differently from women and thus they act and think differently. A man needs to feel that you are giving him the space he needs to be a man and pursue his calling in life. Anything less and he will feel suffocated and will see you as more of a burden rather than something positive in his life.
