Among the many destinations in South India are Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. Your South Indian tour can take form of a religious pilgrimage, a historical tour, a study tour, architectural tour, healing (Ayurvedic tour), adventure tour or relaxation (hill stations) tour. The Tamil Nadu Tourism allows you to visit many historical places that showcase architecture of medieval period – of the kings and queens who ruled the territory from the past. The temples and other structures are exceptional, breath-taking. You can learn a lot about ancient history as well as the methods they used in construction of temples and royal structures. There are many places to visit in Tamil Nadu: Chennai, Madurai, Mahabalipuram and Kanya Kumari being the most visited places. Expect the weather to be hot in summers and warm in other seasons. Lodging is cheaper for those who are willing to spend more on touring and less on lodging. You also find expensive resorts in case interested. Food varies from Continental to traditional South Indian cuisine. While in Tamil Nadu, expect a number of constructions that display how the designers used to think of Gods and Goddesses. The architecture is multi-layered – you will find both paintings and sculpture on temple domes and inside the temples. What make South Indian structures different are the spacious interiors that display exceptional sense of designing. While on South Indian tour, you can also visit the famous Guruvayoor Temple . The temple serves to the religious needs of Hindu sect in Kerala, towards the South western part of India. The place is known as Dwarka of South India. Dwarka originally, is the city in North Western part of India which is popular as place where Lord Krishna ruled. You can see the idols of Lord Vishnu in his Krishna avatar at Guruvayoor temple. People pray at this place around the year so expect heavy rush whenever you visit the temple. If you are visiting the temple in summer, there are ample measures to keep you cool even as you are standing the slow moving queue to get a glimpse of Lord Vishnu. Other than places of worship and sacred monuments, you can visit the many hill stations. South India hill stations are known for their magnificent natural aura. These are basically resorts surrounded by small towns and many hill peaks. There are rivers and streams that make it even more beautiful to stay and enjoy the nature in its full flora. Some of the best hill stations in South India are located in Kerala, on the slope of Western Ghats of Deccan Plateau. Araku valley in Andhra Pradesh is also a good place to stay and refresh your senses. Anantagiri in Tamil Nadu acts as a place where you can rest and relax before joining the mainstream world with renewed energy. Other than natural flora, you can expect man made vegetation across these hill stations. Most of them are formed as coffee and masala (spices) plantations. You may want to avoid rainy seasons for hill stations’ trip as being mountainous places it rains a lot in the season.
