rnLife is not meant to be a smooth ride, always! Each joy is followed by sorrow and each obstacle by success. How our lives actually play out to be is dependent more so on how we choose to tackle the different phases of our life; how soon we are ready to give in and accept defeat or how far we are prepared to persevere in order to reach to our desired goal in life. The great scholars in society generally suggest in favor of cultivating the habit of reading, daily atleast 4-5 pages of a book, magazine or journal that imparts right knowledge and gives good guidance to us. You will find this habit very liberating and fulfilling. Moreover, it enriches you with different perspectives that broaden your horizons of thinking and widen your base of understanding. The knowledge that we gain from reading comes handy while passing through hard times in life as it can help us deal with the situation with a matured outlook and thereby pull ourselves out of any difficult situation that we may be entrapped into. For instance, if we clearly understand what is making us feel gloomy, it will place us one step closer to solutions, isn’t it? It is in our own best interest to know how to address the road bumps or downfalls that come along our way. It is like we will only sink deeper into quicksand if we don’t know that we should not be moving around in panic when put in such situation. However, if someone gives us clear instructions on what mechanisms are to be used to navigate the quicksand and what are the dos and don’ts in order to come out safe from the quicksand, we will manage to come out of that sticky situation in a much better and surer way. We can gain this knowledge from reading. Param Pujya DadaBhagwan, an enlightened being has always emphasized on the importance of right understanding to remain happy in life. He says, “There is nothing you have to do, you only have to understand.” And reading, in a big way, invokes this process. It enables us to understand the situations rightly and in a broader gamut. Reading thereby greatly helps us when we are feeling down. Reading serves as a useful instrument in helping us to eliminate the emotions of sadness, stress, or tension that we may be experiencing when placed in critical situations. Param Pujya Dadashri has stated that when a person has a burning question within, if he opens any of Dadashri’s books and starts reading, he will immediately find a suitable answer to resolve the problem that he is facing. Personally, I found that the “Worries” book of Param Pujya Dadashri has helped me devalue the significance of temporary things in my life, and as a result it is destroying the stress I am facing in life. Further, the “Flawless Vision” and “Fault is of the Sufferer” are books that shed light on the real principles of the Universe. They have given me a great insight into the problem at hand and how to solve it and come out of the dark corners in life. These are the Self Help books that have proven to help many others too by boosting their confidence and giving them an understanding of how to come out of their weaknesses. Hence, to conclude, the more we learn and understand through reading, the more power we gain to not let any external problems of the world affect us internally.
