Smoking aficionados are embracing pipe smoking once again. The use of pipes to smoke tobacco is becoming popular. Pipe smoking is not a new phenomenon, as history records pipe smoking to be an old tradition among many cultures. For new pipe smokers, glass pipes are often chosen instead of wooden pipes.
Pipes made of glass materials are often chosen among other types due to style. A glass pipe can be displayed as a decorative item. Some even purchase several pieces and keep them as collections, showcasing the beauty of the blown glass when they are not smoking tobacco.
Glass water pipes are also a favorite among pipes made of glass material. Tobacco or cigar smoke is filtered by water present in a bowl or chamber at the lower portion of the pipe. Some smokers prefer the milder effect the water filtration has on the smoke, while others prefer the non-filtered steamroller pipe for their tobacco smoking needs. Aside from being stylish and artistic, the popularity of glass pipes as well as other forms of pipes can be attributed to the sensation they offer when used for smoking tobacco. The flavor present is greater with pipes than with regular cigarettes.
When compared with other forms of pipes for smoking, those made of glass have advantages over those made from other materials. A glass pipe immediately provides the enjoyable taste of smoking and can offer it longer than any other pipe. Pipes made of wood for example do not immediately give the distinctive taste available in smoking from a pipe made of glass. Pipes made of clay, on the other hand, offer that unique taste originally, but cannot sustain it for too long as it is affected by continuous heat.
With proper handling, care, and maintenance, glass pipes are also able to last longer than other types of pipes. For example, wood and plant based pipes are the least durable among most pipes. Other more durable pipe materials, such as metal, ceramic, or even clay, have disadvantages. Unlike glass, these materials react to heat and may even result in combustion.
Pipes of glass can be used easily and cleaned. First, a smoker must place the cigar or tobacco in the bowl. Next, they cover the carb, which is a hole in the pipe. Then they light the tobacco and inhale and enjoy before releasing the carb covering.
After use, cleaning the glass pipe should be done once is it cool. This can be accomplished with pipe cleaners which are readily available in many specialty shops or online. If these supplies are not on hand, maintenance must be done manually. A napkin or a towel dabbed in alcohol can be used to wipe the surfaces of glass pipes. This can remove any leftover debris from tobacco and keep the pipe fresh for future use.
