When you take a minute to consider their activities, the cells in our body are truly wondrous! They are constantly sending and receiving different signals. Your cells are busy working even when you sleep. However, unfortunately, it is possible for cell communication to go awry. In this case, a cell may receive a signal and not respond. Or a cell’s signal may not be heard in the first place. Cell miscommunication is, in fact, a very serious issue as it can lead to disease.

When the cells all do their job properly, the body functions optimally.
One vital instance of essential cell communication is brain cells. Every second, billions of our brain cells are communicating with one another. The nervous system has cells that transmit dopamine, serotonin and noradrenaline. A signal tells the neurotransmitters to flow from the nerve ending and work with other nerve cells. Problems with neural communication can lead to issues with the brain including schizophrenia and Parkinson’s disease.

One common disease that is caused, in part, by problems with cell communication is diabetes. When food is broken into sugar and enters the blood stream, insulin is released. Insulin is the signal from the cells in the pancreas that instruct the body to store sugar. In the case of type 1 diabetes, the insulin signal doesn’t reach its target and, as a result, sugar improperly accumulates. Type 2 diabetes is when insulin is not produced at all. Both types of diabetes are caused by cell miscommunication and result in rising blood sugar levels.

Issues with communication can cause issues with our skin too, leading to aging as well as redness, wrinkles and pimples. However, when there is a flexible cell membrane the skin cells are more likely to communicate properly. It is important for this cell membrane wall to be flexible and able to properly receive signals to remove waste and allow nutrients and oxygen to enter. Getting the proper amount of omega 3 in your diet can assist this process.

Obviously, everyone should want his or her cells to communicate as effectively as possible. This can help your cells perform their job and you will heal faster, and be far more likely to be free of disease. One way to keep your cells happy and healthy is to give them “cell food.” Green foods will help them to operate and repair. These include wheatgrass, kelp, rose hops and chlorophyll.

Also if you can keep the pH balance of your cells properly balanced, this is also very helpful. Be sure that you drink enough water and don’t get dehydrated. When our bodies become dehydrated, cells lose their ability to work optimally. Yet another way to keep your cells healthy is to exercise regularly. When we get sufficient cardio exercise, our mitochondria actually increase!
