When Good Habits Go to the Extreme

Do your friends say that you have good habits? If yes, then probably they prefer being with you because they feel at ease. Not all people out there know how to behave properly towards other people. If there is something that describes the characters of a person, then it is habits. The habits of an individual will reveal a lot about that individual.

It is psychology that seeks to study in a scientific way how human beings behave and their mental way of thinking (mental processes and behavior). The behaviors that are repeated regularly are termed as habits.

There are two types of habits:

1.) Good habits.

2.) Bad habits.

Bad habits do irritate and no one is ready to be embarrassed by the person who has the bad habits. Good habits make people to socialize with one another in a way that is friendly. However, good habits can be taken to the extreme and become bad habits.

Are you a perfectionist? People who are perfectionists want to be on their very best and they seem to derive pleasure from being so, but they can take things too far. If they become too demanding about perfection either with themselves or with others, their "good habits" suddenly become bad habits. If it goes too far, such that it damages relationships, the situation can actually lead to social problems.

Let's take one example: Let's say that you're very, very neat. That is great; the problem is that people do have different ideas as to what being "neat" means. To others, papers that are stacked neatly on a desk to them means being "neat," while to some people, having papers that are stacked neatly on a desk isn't being neat. So, the problem happens not when you follow your own habits, necessarily, but when you expect people to follow your habits.

A good habit can be turned into a bad habit. Let's say you have enough money thus you're not poor. You have a savings account which of course you have deposited this money to. That is good habit, but it will be a bad habit when you don't spend it at all. Your family is left with very little money to spend just because you want to save more money.

It is good to be conce
ed about others, but don't put other people's needs and wants ahead of yours all the time. If you always put other people's needs and wants ahead of yours, you're going to end up feeling depleted, deprived and even ignored. This is because other people will simply see you as someone who does not care for yourself.

Watch your words. This means that you should speak carefully. Know when to talk and when to remain silent. Your words should be sincere and let your words give people hope. I agree that questions are relevant and should be brought up without fear of being criticized. But do you agree with me that aimless questions are a waste of time? Yeah, don't ask questions that are unnecessary. Figure things out on your own.
