Prostatitis is one of the common diseases in men, which can cause various types of pain, such as inguinal pain, pelvic floor pain, perineal pain, ejaculation pain, and urinary pain. These pains may cause inconvenience to the patient's life and work, and even affect their psychological state. So, how painful is prostate pain? Prostatitis can be divided into acute prostatitis and chronic prostatitis, as follows: Acute prostatitis: Patients may experience pain in the perineum, suprapubic area, and external genitalia. In addition, ejaculatory pain is also a common manifestation of acute prostatitis. If acute urinary retention occurs, patients usually have distension and pain in the bladder area; Chronic prostatitis: The main manifestation of patients is also pain. The perineal area is the most common area of pain and discomfort, accounting for about 63%. There is also testicular pain, accounting for about 58%, pubic pain, accounting for about 42%, and penile pain, accounting for about 32%. Pain is also common in the urethra, perianal area, groin, lumbosacral region, and lower back, and has a greater impact on patients' quality of life than urinary symptoms. The severity and frequency of pain have a greater impact than the location and type of pain. When pain occurs outside the pelvis, the patient's pain symptoms are often widespread, and their social psychology, health, and quality of life are also worse than those with pelvic pain. Pain and discomfort during or after ejaculation are also important non-specific clinical manifestations of chronic prostatitis. Approximately 45% of patients experience ejaculation pain, with 24% experiencing frequent ejaculation pain. Why does prostate disease cause pain? Firstly, diseases such as prostatitis or benign prostatic hyperplasia can cause irritation or inflammation of prostate tissue, leading to pain. Inflammation can cause swelling, redness, and congestion of prostate tissue, leading to pain. Secondly, diseases may also lead to abnormal secretion or obstruction of prostate fluid discharge, leading to increased pressure and stimulation of nerve endings in the prostate, leading to pain. Thirdly, the disease may also affect other tissues and organs around the prostate, such as pelvic floor muscles and urethra, leading to impaired function of these tissues and organs, leading to discomfort and pain. Fourthly, prostate diseases may also affect the patient's psychological state, such as anxiety, depression, etc., which in turn affects the perception and treatment of pain. How to treat pain caused by prostatitis? 1. Drug treatment: Antibiotics such as levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, moxifloxacin, azithromycin, clarithromycin, etc. are recommended, with a treatment course of 4-6 weeks. During this period, it is generally recommended to decide whether to continue using antibiotics until 4-6 weeks based on whether the symptoms have alleviated. α Receptor blockers such as doxazosin, tamsulosin, terazosin, etc α The course of treatment for receptor blockers should be at least 12 weeks. Traditional Chinese medicine Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill can also eliminate various discomfort symptoms in patients. 2. Physical therapy: includes physical therapy methods such as massage, hot compress, and pelvic floor rehabilitation. Massage can promote the discharge of prostate fluid, alleviate inflammation and pain. Hot compress can promote blood circulation, relieve muscle spasms and pain. Pelvic floor rehabilitation can help patients master the correct methods of pelvic floor muscle exercise, strengthen the function of pelvic floor muscles, and improve urethral symptoms.
