Where should YOUR advertising dollars and time be spent? We are at the halfway mark of the year and it is beginning to look up for sales for most businesses. We aren't out of the water yet with the recession but the light at the end of the tunnel is getting clearer. I wouldn't say now is the time to sink all your money into any single advertising venture but maybe it is time to start spending more of your advertising dollars and begin to diversify them.rnThis is to help you decide some new and different ways to invest your advertising dollars to help you build your business. One great way to build business is to appreciate the business you already have. Start by calling your top customers and thanking them for their business. You can also send thank you cards each time they place an order so they feel appreciated. When was the last time you were called or sent a card to say that your business is appreciated? Been awhile? Well it's the same for your customers. Just think how that will set you apart from your competitors.rnAnother way to help build your business is to start doing a direct mail or e-mail offers for present and prospective customers. Most of us all have our clients mail addresses and or e-mail address. Now is the great time to tell your customers thank you by offering them a discount on their next purchase. Direct mails are good for this but e-mail is one of the most cost efficient ways to do this. You can either simply type up a informal e-mail to send out to your clients or if you have a graphics program you can design a good looking flyer to mail or e-mail. If you do not have the time or ability their are several different companies that are out there just for this purpose such as constant contact. rnAnother thing to think about is to change up your business appearance. I have several customers that have great looking signs but as people get used to driving by your business they get used to seeing the same color combinations or wording. I suggest to some of them to consider changing their sign up some. That can sometimes be as simple as changing the message on your marquee sign to grab attention. Another thing you can do to change your image up is to change the colors you have on your sign, this can be done by changing the vinyl graphics or adding digital graphics. This can also be done by painting the exterior portion of you illuminated box or the frame of your sign.rnThis could also be a good time to inform your customers that your business is strong and successful and try upgrading your sign. Upgrade from non-illuminated to illuminated or from vinyl graphics to a digital print. New graphics can do wonders for a sign. rnNow is the time to be looking into investing time and money into building your business. You can do this by diversifying your dollars and spend a little time planning for the future. Thank your customers by phone calls, direct mails and e-mails. Also let your community know that you are still in business and stronger. Refresh the face of your business and get ready for a great second half 2010.
