If you are an EU citizen taking up residence in the UK according to the EU regulations, then you can bring your family with you through the EEA family permit UK. Extended or close family member includes aunt, brother, uncle, sister, cousin, nephew, or niece. rnYou can also be eligible for applying the family permit if you have the following eligibility: • If you have a retained right of residence to stay in the UK as the family member of an EEA national who has died, left the UK or is no longer your spouse or civil partnerrn• If you are the caretaker of someone who has the right to be in the UK, the carer’s child, or the child of an EEA national who previously worked in the UKrn• If you can make a ‘ Surinder Singh’ application after living in another EEAcountry with a British family memberrnHow Long the EEA Family Permit is Valid for?rnThe EEA family permit is valid for 6 months. Within the six months, you can leave and enter the UK as many times as you need. After this period, you can apply for an extension of up to five years.rnRequired Documents to Apply for an EEA Family Permit • Evidence of your relationship to your EEA family member, for example, civil partnership certificate or marriage certificatern• A valid passport • Proof that you have lived together for 2 years in the UK if unmarried • Birth certificate rnYou can apply for the family permit either online or offline.
