Who Is Ready to Heal?
When I started my practice in 2000, I learned there are people not really ready to take complete responsibility for their own healing. I had to explain that I was only a guide to take them to the place of empowerment so the shift could take place within them, potentially allowing for the healing to take place. For instance; an individual might ask if there were some kind of guarantee for quitting a bad habit. One person even said, “how do I know what is in my subconscious mind?”, or “perhaps I really do want to smoke, how will I know until I begin smoking again?” This implies a belief that their own subconscious is some foreign person of which they have no knowledge. The truth is the subconscious mind, which is called the emotional mind, IS who you are! It is not something you are consciously aware of, but you definitely feel it. The Subconscious mind makes its presence known in every desire, fear, craving, aspiration and or emotion that you have in any given moment.
The real story behind some of the questions being asked is, “do I have to pose any responsibility for this thing being in my life and do I have to have to assume responsibility in order to create the changes I want?”
When a Client called me and asked if I could just make him not want to drink anymore, and as he told me how miserable his life was, he described his addiction as a disease that was uncontrollable. He then asked if I could change something in his mind that would turn off his desire for alcohol. He was basically asking me to brain wash him into not wanting to drink anymore. If that were possible it would have been marketed a long time ago. The answer still comes back to the main ingredient for healing change, you must sincerely want it.
A person’s responsibility is to have a sincere desire for change and to face whatever it may be that is driving the addiction in the first place. The good news is, EFT allows this shift to happen with the least discomfort. Since I began to use EFT with about 90% of my Clients and Hypnosis about 10%, I noticed the ease and gentleness EFT brought to the session bringing about positive cognitive shifts in the realm of their perceptions and memories.
For those who ask for change and really do it for the sake of others in their life. A wife or husband, a mother or father, friend may be asking them to quit some bad habit like smoking, go on a diet or whatever. It does not work as effectively if they are not doing this for their self regardless of whoever may be cheering from the sidelines.
Many people say on a conscious level they want healing, are surprised at the suggestion; perhaps they do not want healing. Yet, the proof is in the pudding. True healing is available to us all when we are really ready. Dr Caroline Myss has said; (and I paraphrase) How we heal is in direct proportion to the level of self worthiness we possess.
The question could be asked then, “ is a lack of self worthiness at the root of all emotional and physical issues?”
If you feel there is something holding you back from changing your life when you know there is a better way available to you, ask yourself “what is the risk in changing or healing this issue?” What do you feel it might cause you to sacrifice? How would you have to change your life if this change happened? Do you deserve to suffer and why?
Most addictions are quelling some kind of anxiety. Sometimes we must face the possibility there may be some fear that causes us to sabotage our selves. It only takes a little willingness to create the kind of energy to put things in their proper perspective and see the way to positive healing change.
