When it comes to the ventilation of a home, not many people are aware that how your attic is ventilated too, plays an important role. One of the most desired aspects of any home, is the ability to conserve energy and bring down those monthly bills. If you have ventilation that is not top notch, chances are your energy consumption is going to be very high. One of the first places to start is that of your attic. Getting in a good roofing expert or a ventilation expert is necessary. Attic ventilation can bring down energy consumption in summers and in winters. In summer months, depending on the area you are in, an attic’s temperature can hit as high as a 320 Fahrenheit. This kind of heat can come all the way down to your home. To counter the heat, you will switch on your air conditioner for a longer time, in a higher mode, thereby consuming electricity. Putting in proper ventilation will ensure that your attic does not heat up in a big way and this brings down temperature in your home and reduces your consumption of air conditioned air. The same can be applied for the winter months as well. Attics in winter have a completely different job. If you have snow in your region, a poorly ventilated attic can mean that moisture will be retained in your attic. This can mean that your home cools down much more. Depending on the weather outside, temperatures will continue to fluctuate in your attic and if it is not properly ventilated, you will continue to change the levels on your thermostat wreaking havoc on your energy consumption. Besides such miserable use of energy, you will also end up with a water logged home, where moisture will gather on the ceiling and run down your walls. If though you may have insulated your homes, the collection of moisture can result in condensation on the insulation, bringing down its efficacy. This means that your heating system will have to work extra hard in order to be able to compensate for the changing temperatures in your home. Getting a professional in to do the job for you is best simply because they are in a better position to ascertain the kind of work that needs to be done. This is not just a case of adding an attic window, but is much more than that. Go on the basis of recommendation on the people who can do this work for you.
