Everyone is aware of the numerous options that the healthcare and medical field has. Nursing professionals with different qualifications work in different facilities such as nursing homes, hospitals, private clinics, retirement homes, rehabilitation centers, old age homes, etc., with a common aim of serving the sick and elderly people. Also, people have started becoming more conscious towards health. Thus, becoming a certified nursing assistant can prove to be a stepping stone for advancement in your nursing career. You have to fulfill certain CNA certification requirements, so as to be able to start with your career as a CNA. First of all you should have a high school diploma or a GED degree to be eligible for the CNA training. Then, you need to undergo through at least 75 hours of CNA training program to enroll for the CNA certification test. These training programs make you familiar with all the basic and advance nursing skills that you will require while practicing as a CNA. The CNA training covers both theory concepts as well as practical knowledge, since the CNA certification exam is divided based on these two sections. During this training program, the teachers and professors train you in various nursing and clinical skills such as infection control, human anatomy, medical terminologies and many more. You are also trained regarding, how to check the patients’ vital signs such as pulse rate, blood pressure, temperature, etc. After completing the training you need to enroll yourself for the state CNA certification test in order to get your CNA certificate. The theory paper is conducted to examine your understanding of such basic and specific nursing skills. Whereas, the practical exam is conducted to test the way you treat real patients. It is only after clearing your theory paper that you are allowed to appear for the practical test. It is mandatory to pass both theory paper and practical in order to earn your CNA certification. There are a number of benefits of becoming a CNA. Being a CNA provides you with job security. It also offers you a handsome salary as compared to the non certified CNAs. The knowledge that you gain during your CNA training also proves to be beneficial when you look forward to opt for higher education in the medical field such as Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Registered Nurses (RN), masters and PHD. Having a CNA certification will not only help you fulfill your dream of being in the healthcare field, but, will also enable you to give quality care to your patients. It is also important to take care of your CNA certification renewal to enable you to continue with your career as a CNA.
