“Why Do We Refuse”
“Why Do We Refuse to Do — What We Need to Do”
Take for instance an older man who in his late 70’s decided to take it easy. No more walking, no more meditating, no more eating right, all of that went out the window… but eventually things did change.
You see his mother died of cancer and diabetes and lost her legs many years before, and his father died of a heart attack at a young age. So unconsciously there was this unconscious feeling that he too had to travel the same road. It was not conscious at all, it was totally unconsciously leading him in the same direction as his parents. So he gained 50+ pounds by eating everything in site, and had to go to the bathroom 4 or 5 times at every night, and his heart got out of rhythm now and then. But he really didn’t want to talk about it, all he would say was “When our times is up God will bring us home”.
Yet with the urging of friends he finally did go to the doctor and get a check up. And he found out with a prostate biopsy and colonoscopy that he was cancer free. Plus the doctor said his heart was fine but he was stressing his heart with all that extra weight and needed to go on a diet and start exercising. Yet he refused and thus started gaining more weight. Until one day he had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital.
Luckily he did survive because it was a minor heart attack. Thus he was given a second chance, a chance to change and start doing what he needed to do in order to be healthy. And for some reason perhaps it was the fear (The fear of dying can be a great wakeup call) he awakened from his slumber and started exercising, eating right, and meditating again.
This goes to show that we have two minds going on, one that’s feeding us all the negative stuff, and refuses to look at the realities of the situation. And we have the still small voice of God within which is the voice of truth. And many times we block out God’s voice because we don’t want to listen. Plus we have the unconscious path that we need to move down in order to uncover— why we are doing — what we are doing. Sometimes that unconscious reasoning is brought to light in the conscious mind in order to make new choices, and at other times it stays buried in the unconscious.
In reality it all works out one way or another. We can either listen to the still small voice and save ourselves lots of pain and suffering. Or we can listen to the negative voice and move in that direction, either one is our choice. And “choice” or “free will” is the one thing that God will never take away.
Many Blessings to Everyone!
