With consumers flocking to the Internet to find the information, products and services they need, it’s absolutely imperative that your business be easy to find online. PPC stands for pay-per-click and is also known as PPC Marketing, Cost Per Click Marketing and Sponsored Marketing. It’s all the same thing, however, and here’s how search advertising works. The PPC Process Paid search advertising is a great way to help businesses get consistent traffic from search results and websites. Let’s take a look at the process step by step. First, a consumer goes to Google.com and types a product or service in the search bar (for instance, “Maltese puppies under $1000). Google then produces two types of search results: 1) organic search results on the left hand side of your monitor and 2) sponsored results (pay-per-click results) on the right hand side of your monitor and sometimes in a yellow shaded box. The consumer clicks on the ad or link that seems most relevant to what he’s looking for. More often than not, people click on organic results rather than PPC results. By clicking on a sponsored ad, the user is taken to the landing page or home page of the advertiser’s site. For the advertiser (site owner), when someone clicks on one of their ads, they will be charged a certain fee for that particular click; these click prices vary depending on keywords used. So, in a nutshell, the process works like this: 1) Site owner (advertiser) picks keywords they want to show up forrn2) Consumer searches, sees the ad and clicks on itrn3) Advertiser is charged for the clickrn4) Advertisers decide whether to remove ads and stop paying for clicks, or they decide to leave ads up and budget more money for their PPC campaign If you are new to the concept of PPC and don’t have much experience managing a website, it’s highly recommended that you hire an experienced paid search company to handle your PPC search advertising.
