Do you have goals to attract new clients, build your website, grow your "list" or even to write a book? As an entrepreneur, it's wise to set goals that excite you and propel you forward as you grow your business. As you begin to work towards your business goals, you feel pumped, motivated and ready to take on the world. Many entrepreneurs find, however that constantly striving towards their business goals eventually begins to take a toll on their health, especially if they haven't been prioritizing their health for some time.
As a busy entrepreneur, it's important to begin thinking about specific health goals to work towards, in addition to your business goals. Your health is the foundation upon which everything else is built. Without feeling and looking your best, you can't possibly grow your business to the level that you want it to be. A tired, unhealthy entrepreneur will take much longer to succeed than an energized healthy one. Which one do you want to be?
I want you to think of a health goal that you would like to work on. Perhaps you'd like to lose some weight, sleep better at night, exercise on a regular basis, drink more water each day or learn to cook at home more often. How might achieving this goal make a difference in the way you "show up" in your business? Would you have more energy, feel more focussed, make decisions quicker? Jot down your thoughts in a notebook or journal. I'm sure you've heard of the S.M.A.R.T way to create your goals, haven't you? Your goals should be SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ATTAINABLE, REALISTIC and TIMELY. How can you use this SMART acronym to develop health goals that are just right for you? Here are some questions to get you started:
Specific: Is your goal focussed or blurry?
Measurable: Decide "how much", "how many" or "how often" (for example: "How much weight would you like to lose?", "How many hours of sleep would you like to get each night?")
Attainable: Can your goal be reached by the deadline you've set for yourself?
Realistic: Are you aiming for the impossible or can this goal really be achieved?
Timely: When would you like to achieve this goal by?
Your goals should excite and motivate you. I teach my entrepreneurial clients HOW to set health goals that are just right for them. The great thing about this is that they feel confident knowing that they have a personalized health plan in place to keep their energy levels up each day. Planning in advance how you'll reach your health goals really frees you up to focus on your business without worrying how you'll manage your nutrition, fitness and overall lifestyle. This makes a huge difference in what you bring to the table each day as an entrepreneur. Being healthy from the inside out by creating health goals (and sticking to them!) greatly increases the chance that you'll achieve your goals as an entrepreneur as well.
