Periodontitis: Periodontitis starts with bacterial growth in your mouth and if it is not properly treated, it may cause tooth loss because of the destruction of the tissue, which surrounds your teeth. Gingivitis: Gingivitis (gum inflammation) most often precedes periodontitis. When gingivitis is in the early stage, bacteria in plaque are built up. They are further contributed to clot formation and possibly to obstruct the normal flow of blood to the heart. It can be a big cause of cardiovascular diseases. Respiratory Infections: There may be an increased risk of respiratory infections among individuals. These infections include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia or acute bronchitis, and more. Infection outcomes when bacteria from the upper throat are inhaled and entered into the lower respiratory tract. It can also be a cause of death. Go for Regular Dental Cleanings: It is an ideal way to avoid as well as to treat the gum problems. If you go for the dental cleanings regularly, your dentist can detect the gum disease symptoms at the early stage. These symptoms can be treated before they become a serious problem. For removing tartar, professional cleaning is must, and if there is some plaque you missed during the brushing then it will also be removed. Regular cleaning along with brushing and flossing is also able to reverse gingivitis. Quit Smoking: Smoking is very much associated with the onset of gum diseases. Moreover, it makes it more difficult for your gums to heal if they are damaged. Therefore, smokers must try to quit smoking. Brush Twice: Brushing properly twice a day is also helpful in avoiding the gum diseases. It is recommended to battery powered or electric brush.
