Although a staple in Japan, matcha is just becoming known and popular in the United States. The green tea is a powder that offers plenty of health benefits to the user. Because it is a powder, you can use it many ways. You can make smoothies or tea or use as flavoring. You can enhance other foods you might be eating or drinking to get benefits from the powder. The ideas for how to use matcha in your daily routine are growing. However, did you know that matcha is likely to make you more productive at work? Matcha Increases Mental Alertness For your brain, glutamates are important chemicals that transmit signals from neurons to other neurons. Glutamates play key roles in learning and memory. When grown properly in shade, matcha is naturally full of L-theanine, a specific glutamate. Matcha contains up to five times as much L-theanine as regular green tea (20 mg versus 4 mg) because it is grown in the shade. Although sunshine will diminish L-theanine, shading enhances it. When we drink cup of quality matcha, these glutmates rapidly enter our bloodstream in large quantities. They cross the blood-brain barrier very quickly, sometimes in seconds. Then, they stimulate the brains’s alpha waves, making us more alert. Tea Drinkers Are Focused The L-theanine will also allow our brains to focus on a problem. By stimulating the same alpha waves, we can focus on a problem and situation and create a solution. When you drink matcha, you are better able to take on writing, coding and analysis. Matcha allows you to tackle anything that requires sustained use of brainpower. When you are focused on your work, you are more productive and get more completed. Matcha also eliminates the mid-afte oon sleepiness people often feel. You Get Faster Reaction Times Being productive often means that we have to process a lot in a short amount of time. To accomplish this, we often drink lots of coffee for a short-term effect of being able to process a lot. However, matcha is a better choice to make you more productive. It gives you a faster reaction time than coffee. One study, published in the journal Biological Psychology, proved that people who drank matcha tea indicated faster simple reaction time, faster numeric working memory reaction time, and improved sentence verification accuracy with groups taking 100mg of L-theanine and 50mg caffeine combined. A cup of matcha just before work, before starting a project, before a speech, before just about any activity that requires focused brainpower, often results in significantly enhanced performance. The stimulating effects of matcha tea are well-known in the East. It is starting to become known in America. The natural caffeine in matcha is more easily absorbed into the human bloodstream as stated previously. Matcha makes you productive because of the complex and highly controlled way in which it is prepared. Only the highest quality plants are used with the maximum amount of antioxidants, chlorophyll, amino acids and catechins.
