For many years since its discovery, the Internet has made communication a hundred times better than traditional wired media. It has tremendously changed the course of history by influencing commerce, transportation, industry, politics and culture. Small-scale businesses have rapidly turned to multinational corporations by taking advantage of the fast communication and exchange possible only through the Internet. Many companies today depend on the Internet as their medium of profit. For them, the Internet is a widely accessible platform where they can freely advertise their products to a number of potential clients far more than when they use conventional advertisement methods. They can expect people to view their products from links instantly. However, there should be an intermediary who can sustain and improve the marketing strategy online. Online lead generation is one of the best marketing strategies a company can engage in when revenue is down and the business isn’t dominating the competition. This is a strategy that involves creating sign-up forms online for potential clients on different links, usually in popular websites. This is basically offered by a third party or intermediary business firm specializing on lead generation. A lead is the sign-up form itself. How well it works is determined by the number of viewers who find signing up a good idea to get the product they want. The third party is paid for every form signed up by a viewer, who, upon signing up, becomes a potential client. They are not yet considered clients because they do not make a commitment to buy a product just by signing up. Leads, such as contractor leads, only allow the company to have the viewers’ personal information so that they can follow up on potential customers. There are two types of leads. The first one is the sales lead, which is created to get as many potential clients as possible by signing up through online forms and following them up by salespeople. The second type is the market lead, which is very similar to a sales lead, except it is sold to a third party. Contractors determine their exact profit according to the number of contractor leads filled up. Lead generation is an efficient marketing strategy for any type of business or contractor. However, some intermediaries or lead generators cheat advertisers by fraudulently filling up the contractor leads. Thankfully, fraud can now be tracked down, thanks to modern technology.
