Many franchise businesses are successful but there are also some that fail drastically. What is the reason for their failure? The most common reason is lack of preparation and planning before venturing into the franchising world. Although franchise business is a quicker way to attain market share without even employing one’s own funds, it still needs a great deal of effort to make it successful. Having knowledge of this kind of business model is very crucial in order to have success.

There are franchisees that have the least business experience. They need to learn a lot regarding marketing and franchisers product as well as filing techniques and book keeping which are part of day to day business skills. With proper training and long term support, any potential franchisee owner who has no prior business experience can get to the top. This is because a new comer is more likely to listen and learn skills unlike those who have some past experience in business and such people will try to run the business according to their own methods. It is not an easy job to make them use all the methodology and the systems of franchiser which are crafted from years of experience.

Many people have a tendency of duplicating the same business model which is successful at some place into their own locality. And to no surprise they fail! It should be understood that the business strategy depends a lot on location. As locality changes, the customers' requirement changes and accordingly the mind set. New ideas need to be adopted in order to attain a profitable position in the market.

If a franchiser has no proper funding or any long term backing, no franchise opportunities can be profitable for him. It is wise to first assess the situation properly and know the level of capital that will be utilized during the course of the business. Any lack of fund in the middle term can be dangerous and this is the reason many people fail in this field. Capital holds an important role in terms of marketing the franchise. Advertising on the internet or franchise publications is not cheap either.

Franchise cost is another vital factor not to be ignored. The franchise agreement should be read carefully before signing any deal. There are chances of any hidden cost which you should be aware of. Normally after the initial payment, the owner has to pay an amount as loyalty to the franchiser. Ignoring these points can ultimately put your businesses for sale.
