There are many different causes of corns on feet. This condition may affect different parts of the foot. In chronic cases, it may actually weaken the leg and cause back pains due to imbalanced posture and mechanics of the foot. This part of the body is solely responsible for absorbing shock and providing support to the skeletal and muscular systems of the body. When the foot suffers injury or cellular damage this may cause the rest of the body to be susceptible to further problems. The abnormal growth of skin on the foot may be due to hammertoes and foot calluses. Corns on your feet form in areas where there has been too much pressure applied to support the body. They are common on the second, third, fourth, and fifth toes on the foot as they are subjected to constant friction inside a shoe. If there is a mechanical abnormality of your foot, this will cause your toes to rub against your shoes unnaturally. Corns on feet can also result from not wearing socks allowing skin, which increases the chance of the skin becoming irritated. Suffering from an abnormality in the walking gait can also lead to the corns on feet and foot calluses. Certain conditions produce corns on the feet such as bunions; another painful foot problem. Since these bony protuberances often swell up, they can result in even more friction and pressure. Corns may be classified as hard or soft and vary by location. They are created at areas of increased pressure and irritation. Soft and hard corns appear between toes and on top of toes respectively, while plantar corns manifest on the bottom of the feet, causing extreme discomfort. Preventative Orthopedic Techniques to Reduce Corns on Feet These growths of skin can be uncomfortable, causing sharp and constant pains when walking. There are several ways to dissolve foot corns and calluses. The use of natural compounds to soften the skin can be highly effective. Applying tea tree and goldenseal oil to the foot is effective. These oils are anti-bacterial and antiseptic in nature and will starve the area so that it does not grow. Lemon peel applied to the feet and taped in place overnight is a good treatment, if repeated for 3 days.Soaking the feet in Epsom salts and warm water for 20 minutes will soften corns on feet and will make for easy filing down. A hot compress of Epsom salts is also effective in reducing these areas that cause discomfort. The use of orthotic inserts reduces the unsightly presence of corns on your feet, buy evenly spreading the body weight. This relieves the pressure that is placed on the foot corns which triggers their growth over time. Through adjusting the pressure and weight that is placed on certain parts of your foot, you can reduce the presence of foot calluses. You can enjoy a life without foot pains while you walk when you use these effective techniques to prevent irregular walking patterns.
