At the end of a long, tiring and stressful day of work or play, there is nothing better than slipping into a steaming bubble bath. The hot water, topped with luxurious scented foam and infused with skin-nourishing ingredients, can help to melt away everyday cares. Many people also enjoy enhancing their bubble bath with candles, soft music, a bath pillow, and a variety of other things that can add to the relaxing and soothing experience. If you enjoy taking bubble baths to revivify and revitalize yourself, you might also enjoy the simple, fun and rewarding process of creating your own handmade bubble bath. There are a variety of reasons why someone might choose to make their own homemade bubble bath. Some people want a challenging activity, or want to try something new – especially those who have experience with making other types of soap or personal care products. The creativity involved with making bubble bath and customizing it with colorants, scents and different recipes is what will appeal to these individuals. It's fun to know that you have created something that no one else has ever made before, or that you've used someone else's recipe but tailored it and made it uniquely your own. The sense of accomplishment that comes from making one's own bath products instead of purchasing them in a store is also a powerful motivator for these people. The high price of quality commercial bubble bath is another factor that frequently drives people to begin making their own bubble bath, particularly in today's unsteady economy. The luxury bath products, such as bath bombs and bubble bars, created by companies like Lush and Bath and Body Works are high-quality, but can be quite expensive. This means that the price of bath products can become too high for those who would like to be able to enjoy daily bubble baths. There are only two alternatives to spending gratuitous amounts of money on luxury bubble bath: take fewer baths, or purchase cheaper bath products. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for, and cheaper products are almost always inferior to the more expensive and lavish products; they don't moisturize skin as well, the foam isn't as voluminous or long-lasting, the scent may not last as long, et cetera. All-natural products are also becoming far more popular as people begin to concern themselves more with the dangers of harsh chemicals, both for themselves and the environment. Commercial soaps and bubble bath sometimes contain oleochemicals (derived from lard, or other animal or vegetable oils), petrochemicals (compounds derived from oil and fossil fuels) and synthetic detergents; these and other harsh chemicals can be detrimental to one's skin, and are not biodegradable or environmentally safe. The synthetic detergents in mass-produced bath products can also be irritating and drying to the skin, causing itchiness, redness, rashes, and other symptoms of dermatitis. Making your own bubble bath allows you to rest easy knowing that the ingredients that go into your bath products are safe, natural, and good for your skin and the earth.
