Team building exercises can be important to all types of businesses as they help to bring the employees closer together. It gets them working together in a challenging environment and therefore should build their social and work skills so that they become more efficient and get on better whilst at work. It can also identify strengths and weaknesses of an individual, allowing them to acknowledge these and make improvements in the future. It can be a fun way to get everyone working together and building up self motivation and ambition.

Many companies offer themed evenings, such as casino nights or those around the festive periods like Christmas. Incentive programs are used to encourage a group of employees to perform in a certain way within a certain time period. They help to build motivation in securing more sales and keeping customers happy. Those who do really well and bring in a lot of business gain respect and recognition by their boss and colleagues. Incentives such as a pay bonus may be given.
There are various other different reward systems on offer. Some have a points program where the employees collect paints which they can they use to redeem a reward in the future. Consumer programs are also popular as businesses have realised that targeting sales to existing clients costs less and has a better outcome than trying to source new ones. There are other different types of schemes used and each business is different. It is best to go with the one suited to your company and what you think would work the best.
The rewards can also vary. Usually a cash incentive is given, such as a one off payment or a long term pay increase. Non cash gifts are sometimes given as they have more of a sentimental value. Gift cards and certificates are also a valuable thing to receive and tend to work better than cash rewards in most cases. A trophy or medal is also a good option, because it can be hung above their desk in the office or at home to help boost future motivation and confidence. Some bosses offer an experience such as a weekend trip away or a meal at a nice restaurant.
