There are a lot of miracle cures out there that promise to solve your problems and then fail to deliver. Watch out for anything that makes a solution too easy! A difficult problem is going to require at least a small commitment of time and likely some repetition. Don’t shy away, however, from new products that can legitimately help you overcome an obstacle or two. One of the good ones, in our book, is a sugar substitute called Xylitol. If you can add Xylitol to your regular dental routine you will see fewer cavities almost immediately.

We hear all the time from people in a tough spot. They’re brushing at least twice a day, flossing once a day, following their dentist’s directions, seeing their dentist twice a year and they still get an occasional cavity. (Genetics play a role in your dental health. Please don’t feel bad if you’re doing everything right and still getting some decay!) If you’re one of these people, Xylitol can help you wipe away the bacteria that causes decay.

Xylitol is a sugar substitute that’s widely known for its excellent taste-it’s considered to have one of the most accurate sugar flavors of all of the substitutes. One of the primary non-dental benefits of Xylitol is that you can get a great sugar flavor but not the associated sugar spike so people with diabetes can have a treat without the side effects. Xylitol has a similar relationship with your mouth environment.

Streptococcus Mutans is the bacteria that causes tooth and gum decay and it feeds on sucrose. (regular sugar) In fact, in the first 30 minutes following a sugary treat, your teeth are under what’s been referred to as an “acid attack” where that bacteria absolutely thrives. If you’re enjoying treats with Xylitol then none of this happens. You eat the candy, or the soda, or the cookies (Xylitol is known for good consistency for baking.) and your teeth don’t suffer. In fact, because Xylitol stimulates saliva production, your teeth become cleaner after you eat it. Over time there’s a cumulative effect as your mouth becomes cleaner and more resistant to cavities overall.

Xylitol says to “strive for five” exposures per day. You could try candies from www.://healthygridxylitol.com. Eat one after each meal and then have two others throughout the day. Watch your dental bills drop and your oral health soar!
