Jaipur (also known as Pink City) is a major Indian tourist place. It is located on west coast of India and is the capital of state of Rajasthan. Jaipur is also renowned as Paris of India because of its infrastructural beauty and architecture. It is one of the old cities that are founded after preparing city layout plan. It is famous for its multidisciplinary attractions like its heritage, culture, peoples, colorful traditions, festivals, tourist places, old temples, lake, elephants riding, camel riding and much more that cannot be described in words. History Pink city was established on November 18, 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, the king of Amber. According to historians it is the first city situated in desert that follows principles of civil engineering. It has wide roads, beautiful buildings, big markets, gardens, proper sewerage system and a dam for uninterrupted water supply to its citizens. Climate As the city is located in deserts of Thar in Rajasthan, it has a semi-arid climate with average 600 millimeters of rainfall annually, though rainy season is known as monsoon (from July - August to October - November). Average temperature is 15 °C (winter) to 40 °C (summer) that differentiate the city from other European cities. Winter starts in November and remains till coming of spring in first week of March. Major tourist places If you want to visit local tourist and sightseeing places you will require a whole week else you will miss the journey. Jaipur has a large list of tourist places. It has temples, mosques, hills, sunset points, forts, lake, as well as newly constructed buildings equipped with modern engineering. In brief we can say it is a perfect spectrum of old and new architecture nevertheless both can be seen as supporting to each other. Some of places are Hawa Mahal, Govind Devji Temple, Laxmi Narayan Temple (or Birla Temple), Nahargarh Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Amber Fort, Aravalli hills, Mansagar Lake, historical monuments built with the help of ancient Hindu architectural principles. Culture Like other Indian cities, Jaipur has a mixed population of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and other communities; therefore it has a mixed Indian culture. Here you can see peoples to celebrating Holi and Diwali as well as Id-Ul-Fitar and Vaisakhi or Christmas. Most of population is vegetarian (you can taste more than 150 vegetarian dishes) but non-vegetarian can also eat delicious local and Mughlai dishes. Sweats and spices both are favorites of local citizens. Traditions People of the city know how to respect their traditions. They never hesitate to follow cultural traditions. It does not matter what is religion or community, everybody pays full respect to traditions. People live in joint families, eat on a single table, celebrate local festivals like Gangaur, Teej with full contentment. How to Reach As Jaipur is a capital of state and a major economic center of India, it is well connected with rest of the world. You can reach there by flight, train, bus or personal vehicle. It is connected with almost all major cities of India and has direct flights of Saudi Arabia, Singapure, and other countries. Moreover if you are in Delhi (the nearest metro city of Jaipur, from 250 kms.) you can go there conveniently.
