You have put a lot of time and effort into your business website, but it is simply not producing new customer leads. What is wrong? Here are five things to consider:

Are you getting traffic?
What is your SEO strategy?
Do you have any inbound links?
Is your website easy to use?
Have you considered an Affiliate Program?
Are You Getting Enough Traffic?

You may not be getting leads because no one is coming to your site. Before you do anything else, if you are not using Google Analytics to measure the traffic coming to your business website, get it installed. The first and most important measurement tool is to know just how much traffic is coming to your site and where it is coming from. Once you can measure traffic you can do other things to affect the viewers' actions.

What Is Your SEO Strategy?

First of all, what is SEO? It is search engine optimization. Every day, almost every user on the Net goes to Google to ask something. And hundreds, perhaps thousands will ask about the products and services that you sell. You need to have a strategy that will make your business website show up when users ask questions related to your product or services.

The most critical part of that strategy is to know what words both indicate an interest in your products and are used frequently. Then:

Construct the copy on your site with the words that will best attract the right usersr
Incorporate the keywords in the Meta descriptions on your webpagesr
Use the keywords in graphic titles and the page titler
Keep your content freshr
Learn a little about the process:

Read “SEO for Dummies”
Join an SEO group at LinkedInr
Talk to a content provider to create a steady flow of new content that fits into your strategyr
Attracting users to your site is the single most important step you can take.

Do You Have Any Inbound Links?

One element of the Google ranking system is how many inbound links you have. Not only do these links improve your SEO, they actually will provide potential customers. Find site that will swap links with you.

Is Your Business Website Easy to Use?

If you are getting some traffic, but there are few or no new leads coming from the site, the problems are with the product, the price or the site. First, check the usability of the site. When you are intimately involved with your business website development, it is very easy to underestimate the difficulty a new user will have. For example:

Is there a clear and dominant link to the page where the ordering starts? Don’t require the user to go through several pages to get to the heart of the ordering process.
Are you asking for private information too quickly? Do not require an email address until the ordering process is complete.
Are your instructions clear?
Are your graphic descriptions attractive?
For product and price, conduct an analysis of your competitors and their prices.

What About an Affiliate program?

One way to attract potential customers with business website marketing is to participate with an affiliate program. Let other websites advertise your products in exchange for a commission payment for the lead. Examine affiliate network companies who provide a complete turnkey operation for you. All of the web work is on the affiliates’ sites and the network keeps the records for paying commissions. All in all, it’s an easy way to increase the flow of potential customers.
