Wildlife Photography Tips for Beginners

If you don't have enough money to invest in a good telephoto lens you can still go for the 55-250 mm kit lens. This is a pretty decent telephoto lens to start. If you are ready to invest slightly more, then better go for the 70- 300mm. Invest on a prime telephoto lens like 500 mm of 800 mm only if you are really interested in wildlife photography. Learn Exposure rnYou should learn how to expose an image properly. In order to learn exposure, you should learn what is ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed in photography. Learn to set these parameters according to different lighting conditions. Shoot with Less Noise rnYour camera may be capable of shooting up to ISO 12,800. It doesn't mean that you can always go for the high ISO values. Always go for the lowest possible ISO value. Higher values of ISO will result in lots of grains in the image. Learn Image Composition rnOnce you learn to expose an image properly, the next thing that you should try is Image composition. To start off with you can try composing scenes by using basic rules of composition, which include the rule of thirds, composition with vertical and horizontal composition with diagonals and composition with curves. Follow the works of other Wildlife Photographers It is always a good practice to follow the works of other good Wildlife photographers. Learn Post Processing It is a good practice to process your images once you are back from a wildlife photography trip. So, ensure that you always capture your image in RAW format. You can process your images in photo editing tools like Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Lightroom.
