Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary was established in the year 1973 and is under consideration by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for getting selected as a World Heritage Site. It is an important part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Different species of amphibians, mammals, reptiles and birds can be seen here. The best time to visit this sanctuary is between the months of June to October. Forest rest houses and lodges are the best accommodation options which are near to the sanctuary. The nearest railway station to this sanctuary is Kazhikode. rnAn exciting option for wildlife is present in the state of Tamilnadu tourism. This land is blessed with bounty of natural beauty. Mudumalai is the wildlife sanctuary known for its flora and fauna. Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary is an essential part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The sanctuary is spread across an area of 321 sq km and is also a Tiger Reserve. Asian elephants, tiger, leopard, gaur, sloth bear, stripe-necked mongoose are some of the mammals found there. Crocodiles, pythons, bamboo pit snake, turtles, etc are the reptiles that can be easily seen here. The sanctuary is home to different kinds of birds such as hornbills, falcons, barbets, crested serpent eagle and many more. The best time to visit the sanctuary is between the months of October to February. rnDandeli is an amazing wildlife option in Karnataka and is located at a distance of 485km from Bangalore. Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over an area of 834 sq km. this excellent sanctuary is a home to a variety of flora and fauna. There is rich vegetation, different kinds of trees and plants present in this wonderful sanctuary. It is blessed with distinct animals such as languor, barking deer, slender Loris, Indian pangolin, giant iguana. There are more than 295 species of birds found here. The best time to visit is September to May and the nearest railway station is Londa. Another important wildlife sanctuary in South india is Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary present in Kerala. The sanctuary is a rated sanctuary for wildlife photography. It is also a Tiger Reserve. The sanctuary is blessed with 49 species of mammals, 246 species of birds, 28 species of reptiles, 8 species of amphibians, 22 species of fishes and 112 species of butterflies. The best time to visit the sanctuary ranges between the months of October to June. Kottayam is the nearest railway station.
